HI, I’M HAYLEY BURNS.

I am a business and leadership coach bringing practical, effective strategic support combined with a skillful approach to the demanding personal growth that comes with taking action as a leader in our modern world.

I'm a former journalist who once covered breaking news and politics at NBC Chicago, FOX Chicago, and CNN. Nearly fifteen years ago, I stepped away from the newsroom, and after a brief chapter in corporate leadership, I co-founded a communication firm with a former colleague and friend, where I’ve helped dozens of leaders grow their initiatives and businesses, define new models of working in the world that are sustainable and profitable, and to and step in to their next level of leadership.

I am also a cofounder of Chicago’s leading nonpartisan social impact and public affairs event series, a platform that brings together civic leaders, change-makers, and bold ideas.

I am a certified Reiki practitioner with a particular interest in the role of the nervous system for leaders and entrepreneurs - its power to open up the world for us, or close it down.

I’ll be completing board certification in professional coaching through the Synthesis Center in San Francisco in 2026.

Over the last fifteen years, I have worked intimately with people bringing new levels of their work into the world - leaders, entrepreneurs, those in public - and I’ve helped them get where they want to go, with a great sense of care and thought for the human experience that comes with this kind of growth. I have also studied myself deeply as I grow in my own leadership and as a business owner of an increasing portfolio of initiatives.

I’ve interviewed a U.S. president, crafted messaging for a first lady, and led communications and business strategy for a wide range of leaders, from policymakers and entrepreneurs to advocates navigating some of the most challenging business, political, and nonprofit landscapes.

Through working with so many bold, brilliant people building businesses, lives, and legacies that feel purposeful and full, I’ve learned something important:

The business model and strategy is obviously crucial, but most people with big ideas have a good sense of what they have to do.

They just aren’t doing it.

Figuring out what is stopping us at every step is what brings the wild, life-changing results that feel like miracles.

Whether your vision is to run for office, launch a company, step into a new role, or introduce a completely new idea that disrupts the way things are done, our work is to meet that desire skillfully. To tend to our inner worlds, understand our patterns and fears, and work with the world around us. Sometimes that means pushing through external barriers; other times, it means learning how to leverage them. When we begin to truly partner with our desire, that feeling of limitlessness starts to emerge, and everything begins to align.

I bring both my years and years of practical business and marketing strategy, and an awareness of the natural human process of creation to everything I do.

When you catch wind of a true desire, you'd better buckle up.

It’s powerful, persistent, and might be wildly inconvenient.

And it’s also the most accurate evidence of what you’re capable of creating.

Every action you will take has an internal and external experience, and needs a strategy to skillfully navigate it.

i know:

  • The success of your work in the world is not dependent on how much you grind it out, pull all-nighters, and sacrifice. It’s about becoming incredibly skillful at holding a vision while moving through your personal blocks, emotions, and fears. This is the skill that creates wild results.

  • We can train our brain to see every obstacle and problem as a gift, a temporary experience here only to get us to our goals more quickly, or to learn an important human skill.  When we start to believe this, it becomes TRUE, and we see proof of this working in our lives.

  • Joy is Crucial. Moving towards our goals with intention is no joke. It demands a lot of attention. Our nervous system will need a lot of support. Commitment to sensory pleasure is part of the strategy, not the fluff.

  • If we are able to take radical responsibility for our experience in life, in work, in relationships, the potential for growth is limitless.

My mentorship is where I am able to bring every last drop of practical business strategy, modalities, theories, wisdom, and presence into one powerful exchange. It is constantly evolving as I learn more and more about accessing the incredible powers within, and how to leverage them in grounded, sensible, and impactful ways to bring successful models into our modern world.
